How the share is measured

One number per asset per week, calculated the same way across the full record. Read the full methodology

Share of mentions
Each week, an asset’s share is its mentions divided by the mentions of all 18 tracked assets. The 18 shares add up to 100%.
What counts
A headline or text that names the asset or its ticker. Names match in any case; uppercase tickers such as SOL and ADA match exactly. A record that names three assets counts once for each.
Every channel
News, podcasts, social posts, company posts, filings, and code repositories each count once per record. Social posts are the largest channel in the record. Sentiment plays no part in the share.
Weekly buckets
Weeks start on Monday, UTC. The current week reads Partial until it closes. The change compares the two latest complete weeks.
Signal floor
An asset needs at least 20 mentions in the selected window to be named. Assets below the floor are grouped as Other tracked assets.
Windows
90 days, year to date, one, three, or five years, or the full record back to 2011.

Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D) is Bitcoin’s share of total crypto market capitalization. Narrative Dominance is each asset’s share of the conversation about the 18 tracked assets, measured from mentions in Perception’s record.

How often does it update?

Perception recomputes the reading every hour. A week’s shares settle when the week closes on Sunday, UTC.

Can I get the weekly history?

Yes. The Perception app shows the history for every window, and the API returns it with your API key. The current ranking is public without a key.
